Milano, february 2nd, 2018 – The Coordination Committee for the project Human Technopole gathered today. It updated the progress of ongoing activities and it has been submitted the evaluations given by the Search committee, in charge of examinating the candidatures for the role of the director of multidisciplinar infrastructure, focused on life science.

The indipendent commission is composed by seven international experts with high level scientific profile and it’s chaired by the Nobel prize for chemistry Martin Chalfie; in the previous weeks it had selected a short list of five candidates, who have been subsequently interviewed by the indipendent commission.

Today, the commission communicated its own evaluations to the Coordination Commitee, that will gather again, after a necessary pause, for communicate its own judgement over the commission’s documents.

The selection process and the candidates’ names are protected by privacy and the presence of a separated and indipendent Search committee guarantees the best transparency and objectivity in the selecting procedure of director for Human Technopole, that will rise within the Park of science, knowledge and innovation, where EXPO 2015 was set.

The today presentation of the commission’ evaluations is the most recent step for the selection procedure started in the month of April, with the international competition announcement for the director position. The deadline for the candidatures submission was the 3rd of July. 46 candidatures have been submitted, half of which from foreingner personalities and the 80% from candidates who are currently working abroad.

Human Technopole: the project steps

When fully operative Human Technopole will be extended on 30.000 square meters in the Milan area where Expo 2015 was set, neaby Tree of Life, and will include, in addition to Palazzo Italia, two existing places, Unità di Servizio 6 and Cardo Nord Ovest, and and two new ones, where 7 centers of research and 4 supporting scientific structures (facilities) will be set.

Human Technopole will develop personalized approaches, both in the medical and the nutritional field, aimed to fight cancer and neurodegerative diseasesby integrating large scale genomics with the analysis of complex data systems and the development of new diagnostics techniques.
